Each Tuesday, from the beginning of November until the end of March, Rosedale’s Out-of-the Cold Program organized, provided, and served our participants a warm, nutritious lunch.
Participants were greeted by the smiling face of Fran Deacon and other volunteers before they sat down. And, in the kitchen, under the careful supervision of Marg Walker, a tasty lunch was prepared.
Rosedale enjoyed doing this meal for CRC on a weekly basis, but soon realized that CRC’s dishwasher needed upgrading. Fran and Marg fundraised amongst their group and church community and were able to raise enough money to upgrade CRC’s dishwasher.
The new dishwasher was installed at the beginning of May.
On May 21, CRC had the opportunity to honour the Rosedale group, where Louise Moody, CRC Executive Director, warmly thanked them for their outstanding contribution through the year and their very generous gift of the new dishwasher. Both Fran and Marg thanked CRC for the opportunity to come to Regent Park and serve the community. Fran’s son, John Deacon, Honorary Board Co-Chair, sang a song in honour of Rosedale’s contribution. After the tea cups that were used during the reception were washed in the new dishwasher to demonstrate its effectiveness, a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the newly installed dishwasher occurred.
Thank you to Rosedale United Church’s Out-of-the Cold Program for their outstanding contribution to our meal program this year and for their very generous gift of a new dishwasher.
