BUILDING LIVES FOR 50 YEARS – A Celebration – Monday October 20, 2014

CRC_50years_logo_RGB_300dpiOctober 17, 2014: The Toronto Christian Resource Centre (CRC) has been building lives and providing practical assistance in Regent Park to Torontonians marginalized by poverty since 1964. On Monday October 20th, the work and achievements will be celebrated at a Benefit Concert and Fundraiser at the Daniel’s Spectrum.

Since 1964, CRC has worked tirelessly to develop programs to help Regent Park residents realize their potential and contribute to a better community by helping people help themselves.

Begun as an outreach project of Rosedale United Church, CRC has evolved from a meal program in a tiny basement to owning and operating 40 Oaks, an 87 unit apartment building which provides deeply affordable housing and over 5000 square feet of community programming space. 40 Oaks opened in 2012 as the home for CRC to provide a broader range of services including food skills, community meals, clothing, gardening, and community advocacy programs. In 2014, CRC partnered with Community Food Centres Canada to launch the Regent Park Community Food Centre, enhancing CRC’s existing food programs, developing new educational workshops to teach basic cooking skills and creating more opportunities for participants to find their voice as they share food.
