Companions of CRC 2016: Linda Spears

Linda Spears has been a volunteer at CRC since 2007. She served on the Board of Directors for 2 terms. While on the Board, Linda guided the Human Resources Committee and assisted staff through the transition of the smaller organization at the original site to the new 40 Oaks.

She drafted the HR policies and procedures that brought the organization in line with current HR standards. During her tenure many new staff were hired, almost tripling the number of staff in a very short period of time. In addition, Linda was the Board member responsible for the Volunteer Program for 3 years and she served on CRC’s 40 Oaks Fundraising Committee, 40 Oaks Opening Celebration Committee and the Building Lives Benefit Committee.

Linda believed that to be a good board member she needed to be hands on so she helped to serve special dinners such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and summer BBQ’s. Since she stepped down from the board in 2014 Linda has been an active kitchen volunteer in the lunch program, and supported an English Conversation group with women in the community. She is also a current member of the Building Lives Benefit Committee.

Linda is a warm and welcoming presence at CRC. Throughout her years as a volunteer she has been a consummate advocate for CRC recruiting family and friends in support of the organization.
