Taste of Regent Park Returns

CRC | Regent Park Community Food Centre’s Taste of Regent Park kicks off on July 3rd. Our weekly Wednesday evening festival takes over the Big Park in Regent Park for nine weeks, from 5:00 PM until sundown, celebrating the community’s dynamic culture and cuisine.

Part food festival, part world bazaar, Taste of Regent Park showcases the downtown east’s talented caterers, craft vendors, and entertainers. Taste of Regent Park is an outdoor festival running through August 28 in Regent Park’s namesake green space, currently in the midst of a remarkable neighbourhood revitalization. Visitors can purchase locally-sourced produce and artisanal goods at our affordable market, enjoy live music, and pay-what-you-can community meals by local caterers each week. We will have activities for children, and sunset screenings of family-friendly films are shown courtesy of the Regent Park Film Festival.

Taste of Regent Park welcomed 9,000 visitors from across the City in 2018. Those who attended are drawn by the culinary experience, the local talent, and unique crafts at our market. Cavell Hart, festival organizer, shared, “this is a showcase of the sheer vibrancy of this broadly diverse neighbourhood. Good food and fun brings people together, breaks down barriers, and ultimately builds stronger communities.”

On July 3rd, we’ll be celebrating local talent with the 40 Oaks band and a Bengali meal prepared by Banglar Saad. Themes of coming weeks include Caribana, Bollywood, and World Food. Our final Taste of Regent Park on August 28th will be Circus and will include aerial performances from Square Circle. Sponsors and partners include the Government of Ontario, Regent Park Film Festival, and Friends of Regent Park.
