Taste of Regent Park a great success

CRC | Regent Park Community Food Centre’s Taste of Regent Park wound up on August 28th after nine weeks of fun, food and culture in the Big Park. Our weekly Wednesday evening festival is a marvelous celebration of our community’s dynamic culture and cuisine.

Part food festival, part world bazaar, Taste of Regent Park showcases the downtown east’s talented caterers, craft vendors, and entertainers. Visitors can purchase locally-sourced produce and artisanal goods at our affordable market, enjoy live music, and pay-what-you-can community meals by local caterers each week. We will have activities for children, and sunset screenings of family-friendly films are shown courtesy of the Regent Park Film Festival.

This summer we welcomed well over 12,000 visitors from across the City. Highlights included meals by Banglar Saad, new vendors included those who served up vegan treats, new Peruvian caterer Comiditas, Bollywood Week and a surprise visit by Serge Ibaka!

Surprise guest Serge Ibaka serves up the community meal with CRC Market Summer Student Dimitri Hughes and Taste of Regent Park caterer Patricia Chung of Singh’s Trini-Vibes.

Those who attended are drawn by the culinary experience, the local talent, and unique crafts at our market. Cavell Hart, festival organizer, shared, “this is a showcase of the sheer vibrancy of this broadly diverse neighbourhood. Good food and fun brings people together, breaks down barriers, and ultimately builds stronger communities.”
