Donations of adult clothing, toiletries, small household items

CRC is looking for adult clothing, shoes, toiletries, and small household items for our Community Clothing Program.

The demand for our community clothing program is growing as the need in Regent Park increases. Your donation of lightly used clothing will help us meet the needs of our participants with respectful, professional, and quality service.

ClothesDonation-2Are coats and other clothes taking up space in your closet?
CRC will give that coat, vest, fleece, or clothing item to a person whose closet is empty. We accept gently used adult men’s and women’s clothing in all sizes. Clothing needs to be usable as is, and free of stains, rips and tears …clothes you would be proud to give a friend.

Items hardest to find: Men’s jeans, winter coats, winter boots, running shoes. Women’s plus size clothing, pants with elastic waists, shoes, winter boots.

Do you have extra or unused toiletries in your cupboards?
Essentials like towels, razors, shaving cream, soap, deodorant, and shampoo & conditioner are greatly appreciated by our participants.

Items hardest to find: Feminine products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant.

Update on Clothing Room Donations Policy

Thank you to all our amazing Clothing Program donors, whose overwhelming generosity makes this critical service possible. The impact of the Clothing Program is significant and deeply appreciated by our participants. Being able to access free quality gently used clothing goes beyond savings; our mission is also to provide services with dignity and to connect Clothing Program visitors with CRC’s other essential services and give referrals where needed.   There is a social element of shopping with friends, and a sense of excitement bringing home a new article of clothing.  It’s often a way for new guests to get connected with our other programs.

It is because of these reasons we must do everything we can as an organization to keep our Clothing Room running well and safely.

An unfortunate reality of clothing programs is bedbugs, which have become a major challenge in the City of Toronto and other urban centers. We all must do our part to take appropriate precautions to prevent their spread. After significant professional consultation, CRC will be implementing several changes in how we accept clothing donations moving forward. The following requirements will be put into place immediately.

  • Clothing donations are to be received in clear plastic bags. This allows us to easily scan for any concerns.
  • Donations from the community will be accepted by CRC only during the following times:
  • Monday – Friday 9 AM –  2 PM
  • Donations left outside the Clothing Room or delivered outside of the hours identified will be saved and donated to the Oasis Clothing Bank.
  • All donations received must be tagged with a completed Clothing Donation Form available at the CRC’s reception area. This will allow CRC to process your donations quickly and efficiently.
  • All donated clothing must be gently used and washed. Ask yourself, “Would I be comfortable giving this clothing to a friend?” as a standard for items you wish to donate.

All donations received by CRC that do not meet these standards will be forwarded to the Oasis Clothing Bank, who have appropriate industrial equipment to manage any pest concerns.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
