HOW YOU CAN HELP
Volunteer

Volunteer at CRC, contribute to the Regent Park community, gain a deeper understanding of food insecurity, homelessness and poverty and exchange skills and knowledge.

CRC volunteers often report that, no matter how much they give, they always seem to get back as much or more in return. At CRC we call this the “quality of reciprocation”.

Our Volunteer Program strives to create a sense of community and an environment where volunteers are welcomed, valued, and respected.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are essential members of our team; their support makes it possible for CRC to run many of our critical programs and services. Our volunteer opportunities are engaging, interactive, and diverse, and geared to individuals and groups. Many of our volunteer opportunities are available during the weekday, from 8 am to 3 pm. There are a few specialized programs and events that require volunteer support in the afternoons and evenings.

Volunteer Program Update:

As of January 01, 2020, Fred Victor and CRC have amalgamated to improve services to those most in need. Our goal of coming together is to sustain and grow what both organizations have been so successful in building.

CRC is now a Fred Victor location, with CRC and Fred Victor staff and volunteers bringing their expertise together for the amalgamated Fred Victor organization. We value our volunteers highly and are pleased that the amalgamation will begin to provide additional opportunities for volunteers, while keeping our existing programs intact.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities:

We offer varying individual volunteer opportunities throughout the year, such as our Meal Program, Gardening (April to October), Food Skills programs, Drop-in programs, and special events. All volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation Session, an interview, and commit to 1 shift per week for a minimum of 1 month.

All are welcome to apply for the Volunteer Program. We prioritize individuals from the Regent Park neighborhood and surrounding communities and welcome those who have experience with issues such as unemployment, poverty, and homelessness.

Individuals interested in and available during weekdays (before 3pm) for volunteering will need to fill out a Volunteer Application Form and attend a Volunteer Orientation Session.

To sign up for one of upcoming orientations, please fill out an application form and submit it by email (preferred), fax or in-person to:

Email: volunteers@tcrc.ca
In-person or mail: 40 Oak Street, Toronto, ON M5A 2C6
Fax: 416-363-7006

We want everyone who has contact with CRC to feel welcomed, valued, and respected.

Group Volunteer Opportunities:

As of January 01, 2020, our group volunteer opportunities have grown to include Fred Victor’s unique and interactive group volunteer opportunities. We are happy to continue to welcome volunteer groups to support CRC’s  Meal and Gardening programs, as well as special events throughout the year at our CRC site at 40 Oak Street
