BUILDING LIVES
Community Meal Program

DSC_0013-smallThe Community Meal Program is a space where everyone can connect over a healthy breakfast or lunch.

We serve fresh, nutritious meals, which are offered free of charge on a drop-in basis. Breakfast is served 2 days a week (Mondays & Fridays from 9:00am-10:00am) with approximately 130 community members attending each meal. Lunch, which is served 4 days each week (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 12:00pm-1:00pm) generally, attracts about 250 diners.

Our meals are made from scratch and served by a team of staff and volunteers. We aim to use fresh, seasonal, local and sustainable ingredients where it is possible. We believe that all people deserve access to fresh and healthy food, served with dignity and respect.

We always provide a vegetarian option with every meal served. All meat purchased is certified Halal.

A typical week of meals might include:
lunchprogramBreakfast:

  • Pancakes, hardboiled egg, yogurt, smoothie.
  • Home fries with turkey sausage, glass of milk, seasonal fresh fruit.
  • French toast with scrambled eggs, orange, yogurt and hot or cold cereal.

Lunch:

  • Shepherd’s Pie, seasonal vegetables, bean salad, carrot & ginger soup.
  • BBQ chicken, rice, sautéed mushroom/fennel/onion, beef & barley soup.
  • Assorted hot sandwiches, hot potato salad and tomato soup with chicken.

Rosedale United Church’s Out of the Cold Program

From the first Tuesday in November to the last Tuesday in March, the Out of the Cold Program at Rosedale United Church generously prepares and serves warm and delicious meals for our lunch program. A team of volunteers from the church and volunteers recruited from elsewhere take over the food service from RPCFC staff and volunteers, allowing staff time to do other work and RPCFC volunteers some relief. Tuesday’s lunch might be chili con carne and there is always soup (lactose, gluten, and meat free), and salad.

Weekend Meals

Although the Regent Park Community Food Centre does not operate its meal program on weekends, you can still access a heart meal at 40 Oaks through Church in the City’s Saturday Dinner (5:00pm-6:30pm) and the Muslim Welfare Centre’s Sunday Regent Meals (11:30am-1:00pm).
